My uncle left me his house in his will. I own everything in it: The furniture, the curtains, the toilets … Everything but the house itself. What? I dont own the house. I thought you said he left it to you. When you own something, youve paid for it, you paid taxes on it once, and then its yours forever. But if you own a house, you have to keep paying property taxes every single year or the county will take it from you. Therefore, everyone who thinks they own a home is actually renting it from the county.
