Caption: Dr. Stephen Hawking saved my life, doc. How so? Dr. Noodle. I was in a deep dark depression. I wanted to end it all. I was about to. But just then, through my tv, I heard his computerized voice announcing his discovery about black holes. They're the most powerful things there are. But he'd discovered that theoretically, they lose mass over time, until they're just ... gone. He said Things can get out of a black hole both on the outside and possibly to another universe. So if you feel you are in a black hole, don't give up ... there's a way out. His loss is a moral and intellectual void that'll never be filled. Well that's depressing ... and ... now I'm ok.

Caption: Disney's trying to buy Fox. If they did that, then all of Marvel's best heroes would be in the MCU. It would be horrible! The whole Marvel cinematic universe is one big story told by dozens of movies. This would, like, triple the amount of movies I'd have to watch! I'd have to watch every X-Men spinoff to make sure I got every reference made in any Thor or Avengers movie, for instance. HOJ. Your definition of "have to" and my definition of "have to" are very different. I'd have to see them all in 3-D. I'd have to get a second job to afford that.

Caption: What can I get you? The pumpernickel sriracha margarita mocha sounds good. Ok. Can I get you anything else, ma'am? Yes. An explanation of the Fermi paradox. Would you like the most common explanation, or the latest explanation? The latest would be lovely. Despite knowing there are trillions of planets out there, we haven't seen any evidence of alien life because we're part of a simulation. We exist on the computer of someone living in a higher reality. The limits of our knowledge are dictated by the sophistication of the guy's program. He's been steadily upgrading the program. That's why the Hubble telescope "discovered" all those "old" galaxies, and that's why we've "discovered" thousands of new planets. We'll "discover" aliens as soon as the guy running our simulation gets around to installing the "alien life" expansion pack. I meant to ask for that "to go."

Caption: Greetings from the alternate universe where America lost the revolution. What was that, now? Oh, I see. You're in one of the universes that hasn't yet discovered inter-universal travel. I shall explain … Please do. America lost. In 1833, Britain freed the slaves, one of whom had a daughter who grew up to invent the transistor 90 years earlier than in your universe. We had desktop computers. A moon colony, and the Benjamin Banneker orbiting telescope had identified over 3,000 extrasolar planets, all by 1947. So when the alien ship crashed at Roswell, we all knew it was real, especially since a crumpet farmer named "Mac" Brazel took a selfie amidst the wreckage and uploaded it to Facebloke. Long story short, using the ship's zero-point-energy transdimensional drive tech. We've developed a booming alternate-universe tourism industry. Anyhow, I'll have tea and shepherd's pie, please. That's Monopoly money. No, that monocled man is King Thurston III, our beloved monarch. Nice try.

Caption: I've got a new theory, Randy, and it's going to shock the world. Why? Because it's pretty much irrefutable. You know how when you're in the bathroom, it feels like five minutes have passed … but to those waiting to use it, it feels like forever? Yes … And you know how when you're at the event horizon of a black hole, five minutes to you actually is forever to the rest of the universe? ... I think we'd better alert Neil Degrasse Tyson. I call it the Time Toilation Theory.

Caption: You're on the "Ask Sadie" show. What's your problem?! I just found out "Empire" and "Star" are in the same universe. For months I've been telling everyone I knew that "Star" was a blatant ripoff of "Empire." But then I found out they're made by the same people and they're in the same tv universe, and I'm like totally fine with it now. Stop it! We speak "English" on this show, not "tv addict"! Wait a minute ... are we talking about soap operas? Because there's an exception for soap operas. No, we're wait ... yeah, I guess we are.

Caption: Hello, you've reached Gavrilo O'Leary. If you're calling because you're the aliens in the UFO I saw through my telescope this morning … and you'd like to share the secrets of the universe with me, press one. If, on the other hand, you're calling to see if I'm home ... and if you're going to abduct me, probe my nether regions, implant a tracking device in my spleen and then wipe my memory so I can't report any of it ... press two. Boop. Oh, hello. Thank you for pressing "one." This is Gav. I'm ready to be enlightened. Oops. I meant to press "two." My bad. I see a blindingly bright light coming in through my window and my whole house is shaking. Maybe you guys could try just Facebooking me the info instead?

Caption: Do you ever wish you lived in a different era, Randy? It's safer to keep me where I am. Injecting my advanced virility into more primitive eras could have disastrous effects on the timeline. Well … every waking moment I wish I were living before the beginning of existence itself. So I could witness the big bang. That way I could know for sure whether our universe is all just one big simulation running on some geek's computer. I mean, everything being made up of atoms of math is kind of suspicious. We really should have our own science show.

Caption: I've decided I'm going to be positive all the time. What do you mean? Every major religion believes it's possible to speak things into existence. If you say you're a failure, you eventually become a failure. But if you SAY you're a winner over and over again, you can actually talk the universe into believing it. It'll make you a winner no matter how often you go bankrupt. So you agree Trump's going to win?

Caption: You want to see me, boss? Yes, minion. Something fishy is going on. Donald Trump lost the Iowa caucuses. That morning, he held an event in "Waterloo, Iowa." It can't be a coincidence. The universe apparently has a sense of irony. No tyrant, demagogue, or would-be despot is safe. I'm going to give you a bag of money. You're going to go to city hall and bribe my lackeys to change the name of our street to something other than "Indicted Ave." Very bad man.

Caption: What's the first thing you remember? Why do you ask? Because it'll help the cosmologists. Come again? Cosmologists have discovered a lot about the universe. In 1990, they discovered cosmic microwaves are "black body radiation." What that means is, they discovered the microwave radiation that fills the universe conforms exactly to a pattern known as a "black body spectrum" that was predicted by models of the big bang. English!!! They proved the big bang happened. But one of the big questions cosmologists still can't answer is: "What came before the big bang?" Cosmologists everywhere would very much love to hear about your earliest memory. Get ready to experience the second big bang!!!

Caption: A smart reader would get a Kindle and have thousands of books on just one device. A book is a universe. The goal, my dim nemesis, is to lose yourself in that universe. While reading, nothing should exist outside of you and the book. Having several other books just a tap away ruins the intimacy of the reading experience. That's the problem with your generation. As readers, you're all philandering hussies.

Caption: Do you believe in the multiverse, Randy? Of course, little buddy. I am the ultimate specimen of manhood. The paragon of masculinity. Something like that can't be created on the first attempt. Therefore there must be an infinite number of less ideal Randies out there in parallel universes, who can't get dates. You've put a lot of thought into this. I've submitted Randy's cosmological theorem to all the academic journals.

Caption: I'm glad "Fantastic Four" flopped. It was made by 20th Century Fox. Not Marvel Studios. The "X-Men," "Spider-Man" and "Fantastic Four" movies we've seen for the last 16 years aren't actually real. If a Marvel hero does not exist in the same universe as "The Avengers," then he's just an imposter and I don't care whether he saves his fake world or not. "The Church of Marvel," founded A.D. 2015. You're a false god, Hugh Jackman!

Caption: I finally saw the movie "Lucy." Spoiler alert: If you haven't seen it, skip over this and come back later. There was a lot of nonsense in it, but there was one really cool sequence toward the end that was totally worth it. They showed the ENTIRE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE in reverse. It was maybe the most amazing thing I've ever seen. You know you can't "skip over" real life, right? I do it all the time.

Caption: Did you see "Cosmos"? No. It was mind-blowing. Didn't it make you feel small to see how huge the cosmos is? Nah. The opposite. It mad me realize that in all the vast reaches of space, with all the trillions of planets capable of supporting life … … and at all points in the past and in the future, there is, has been, and ever will be ... ... Only one me. How can you feel small when you realize something like that? I hadn't teared up like that since the last time I gazed longingly at myself in the mirror. Too much information.
