Caption: There must have been a moment long ago when it all could have done differently, Rosencrantz … When the living could've chosen to be cooperative instead of predatory. Kind instead of cruel. Selfless rather than self-centered. It was probably when the first fish emerged from the sea to walk on land. If only it had been Lucy the fish instead of Sadie. Lucy never should've trusted that Sadie.

Who are YOU to say what's fake and what's real? I don't know that your sources are any more real than my rear end. I know my rear end. I trust my rear end. you, one the other hand, are a total stranger to me. There's an old saying, doofus: Trust is in the eye of the beholder. That's actually Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Oh, I suppose one of your sources told you that? Sad! Tap tap tap tap tap tap tap.

Caption: Now that my son's in the child protective services system, I have to be extra careful. But I'm still a journalist, Susan. We have ways to get the truth out. I mean, yes, I killed my story about the county suppressing minority voters. And yes, I ran a puff piece about the local bunny farm instead. But I trust my readers are bright enough to pick up on the secret code I used in the bunny farm story. Replace every time I wrote bunny with voter, and every time I wrote fluffy with disenfranchised, and ... Dios mio.

Caption: Ms. Garcia, I just want to thank you for trusting me to handle the Ask Sadie Show account. I've been waiting for a chance to prove myself. When I opened your memo this morning, I got right to work on a ten-step action plan. I wasted no time. I promise I won't let you down. I sent you that memo last year, Courtney. Step one is to tell you I disagree with having Kevin Spacey do the voiceover.

Caption: I can't shake the feeling that nothing is really real, doc. Dr. Noodle. I just got my doctorate in history. And I watch the news every day. And I've started feeling like I've wasted my whole life studying things that never happened. I mean, if everything I see happening right now is "fake," how am I supposed to trust history? How am I supposed to know that Mussolini or Napoleon or Genghis Khan or Robespierre or Caligula were ever really all that bad? Maybe all the journalists and scribes who chronicled their reigns were part of an age-old fake-news conspiracy dating all the way back to the days of Peisistratos? I see. When exactly did these doubts begin? Oh, about 546 B.C.

Caption: What brings you to therapy … "Steve"? I feel like everything is slipping out of my clutches. Dr. Noodle. I spent years cozying up to the boss, isolating him from the advice of others, stoking his paranoia. I subtly convinced him that everyone was against him and that he could trust no one but me and his family, and even they were a little fishy. I had him in the palm of my hand. I said "buy," he bought. I said "sell," he sold. I said "destroy," and he ruined the lives of the people I said were his enemies. I was the most powerful man in the world! I was the man behind the throne! Did I say I charge $100 an hour? I meant to say $1,000. But then I made the mistake of turning off his tv in the middle of Finding Dory. It's his favorite movie.

Caption: What brings you back to therapy? I have a tough time figuring out whom to trust. I read on Facebook that Hillary Clinton was part of a secret group that baked little kittens into pies. And I believed it. But then I read on my Twitter that Facebook was full of fake news, so I believed that and stopped believing the kitten pie story. Then someone at my wife's work sent me an anonymous email telling me she was cheating on me, and I believed it. But then she told me not to worry because the guys she takes weekly business trips with is gay ... and I believed it. I think I have some horrible disorder where I believe whatever the last person told me. I don't think so. Me neither.

The corner hobo is going to be out of town at a convention. Ok, now I'm feelin' a little less honored that you asked me to watch yo' son for you. Just don't tattoo him like you did my goldfish.

Caption: 1982. I wanna be president when I grow up. Psht … A girl could never be president. Most people don't even like girls. Girls can't throw. Girls can't run fast. Girls watch "Care Bears." It's not what I think, it's what most people think. Most people just don't trust a "Care Bears" sympathizer who's likely to have cooties. Most people will never vote for a girl. Most people are girls, Lemont. Face facts: We're as unlikely to have a girl presidents as we are a black president.

Caption: You know why nobody trusts the media anymore? Why? Because they lie all the time. The mathematician René Descartes said "I think, therefore I am." It logically follows that I think the world exists, therefore it does. And from that, it logically follows that I think the world is a certain way, therefore it is. I think Descartes is spinning in his grave. I think he's not. So you must be lying ... That's science.

He don’t trust no one, not even his own allies. He always keep in fighting shape 'cause he jus' know a revolution comin'. America that intense brotha in lockdown who always be doin' one-handed pull-ups. (This cartoon was originally published on 2014-03-25).

Caption: Whutsis? This is your wake-up call. Very few people are actually excited to see you. Most people could take you or leave you. Saywhat now? Even people who kind of like you don't really trust you. Wrong number … You're just lucky people are more tired of your enemies than they are of you. Most people never want to hear the words "Benghazi" or "email server" again in life. You have the wrong number!!!

Caption: Did you read my interview with my ex-roommate who joined ISIS? Yeah. Even back in college, I never trusted that guy. What're you talking about, Susan? You used to trust the heck out of him. You had him house-sit for you … You always asked him to withdraw money from the ATM for you ... Why do people always do this? Whenever someone turns out to be evil, some people rewrite history and pretend they always knew there was something wrong with the guy. I always counted the money I had him withdraw from my account.

Caption: I'm boycotting the entire state of Florida, Susan. First, they can't count their votes in 2000. Then they make minorities stand in line all day to vote … Then, they pass laws making it ok to provoke a fight and then kill the other guy when you start to lose. Never trust a state with alligators. But they're cute.

Caption: What I care about "plate tectonics," Big L? That ain't got nothin' to do with me. Maybe not, but talking about it has everything to do with you! "Purely academic" discourse, Clyde, is never purely academic. It's always - ALWAYS - a means to stimulate neurogenesis ... to create new brain cells ... to keep you alert. The conversations that have nothing to do with you are the ones that have the MOST to do with you. I don't trust no unfamiliar brain cells.

Caption: Why do people revere the "founding fathers" as if they were infallible gods? Seriously, a lot of these guys were know-it-all twenty-somethings who had very little life experience. And then there were the ones in their forties. You never trust a guy in his forties. That's when a guy flips out, leaves his wife and buys aa shiny new horse.
