Caption: CPA. It looks like some of our clients might have tax problems this year. Halley's Comet files a return only once every 75 years. And the black hole seems to be hiding lots of income. Neither Pluto nor Mars can pay what they owe. Pluto's assets are frozen. And Mars isn't called the "Red Planet" for no reason. I think earth might be the only one getting a refund. Of course, it has billions of dependents!

Caption: Whatever happened to your New Year's resolution to take up jogging? Nothing. I'm keen to start. It's just that January and February were too cold. March was windy. April I had taxes to do and May we had houseguests. June, July and August were way too hot. Then I got that kink in my neck, and then I couldn't find my earbuds. I see. And right now? It's getting kinda dark ... But you're keen to start. Think about it all the time.

Caption: I've figured out why a lot of America's greatest cities are in decline. Why? Because I had some time on my hands while I was doing laundry … But that's not important right now. I'm gonna smash your "Airplane" dvd. Most people think it's only about the shrinking manufacturing and tax base ... but what they don't realize is, cities are living organisms. People are blood cells. Streets are arteries. Downtowns are the heart. The newspaper is the brain. Let's talk about "Airplane" again. You can't survive without a healthy brain, unless you're Congress.

Burger King's moving its headquarters to Canada to weasel out of paying taxes! I feel so betrayed. How do I deal with this betrayal, Sadie?! You sound a lot like the CEO of McDonald's. McWhat? Never heard of it.

Caption: Burger King's buying a Canadian donut chain and relocating its headquarters to Canada to skip out on U.S. taxes. Amateurs. I've booked you an igloo even further north. You'll be negotiating the purchase of Blubber Brothers, a popular fast food chain among the Inuit. Congress decided to just make EVERYTHING legal, I guess. Actual Inuit stay in houses, but igloos were cheaper on Hotwire.

Comic/Cartoon: Candorville

Caption: We're being overrun by illegals. You're gonna have to narrow that down. Do you mean jaywalkers? Embezzlers? Contractors who ignore environmental regulations? Bosses who ignore workplace safety laws? People who don’t pick up after their dogs? People who cheat on their taxes? People who speed? People who litter? People who sing copyrighted songs like "Happy Birthday" in public without paying royalties? There are an awful lot of "illegals" out there. I think you know what I mean.

Image Number: 112747
Caption: … Charge extra for people to wear shoes, create a tax on spilled drinks, double-charge for napkins. Boring. You're not a government entity, it's been done. I give up. I concede. I've got nothing. Maybe I don’t belong as a businessman. Maybe I should just turn over the keys to the place to the customer ... They can make their own drinks and become experts and run their own coffee houses. Or I could charge them for making their own drinks and call this a training ground! Witness the return of a muse!

Caption: Rudy, do you think you're ready to take on more responsibility here at the café? What do you mean, boss? I'm just making contingency plans. I'd like to know the café's in good hands if something happens to me. Like what? Oh, the usual … the flu, or a car accident, or exhaustion, or I get stuck out of town ... ... Or I go up on a 20-year bid for bribing federal regulators into declaring the cafe an independent nation for tax purposes. ... Hypothetically speaking. Are you sure it's just hypothetical? Why do you ask? Are you wearing a wire? The sovereign of Ferenginar commands you to lift your shirt. I'm not wearing a wire!!!

Caption: It's fine to hate Congress, little buddy, but you have to have a REASON. The ladies dig a guy who has reasons. Well … They won't fix that pothole in that street I never use. That got fixed last year. Then they're pouring my tax dollars into holes! What a waste! Keep trying.

Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Rudy Park
Viewable Date: 2014-02-02 Pub. Date: 2014-02-02
Image Number: 107240
Caption: I've decided it's time for me to start dating again. Again? I've known you for twelve years, and I've never seen you date. I've been focused on work to the exclusion of all else. I have no hobbies, no friends, no interests at all that are unrelated to my business. Lately, that's started to take a toll on me, Rudy. I've become sullen. Depressed. Lonely. Bitter. Morose. My customers have begun to notice, and I worry my bad mood will drive them away. So ... you want to focus less on business because being all business is bad for business. Also, true love is eventually tax deductible.
