Mallard's Tax-Reform Proposal: Item 1: ~ 14% flat rate, with lower income exemptions, deductions* Item 2: There is no item 2. Warning: Could cause massive unemployment among tax lawyers, accountants and I.R.S. employees. Happy tax day. *Any resemblance to Rand Paul's plan is because he stole it from me.

You're listening to the Rick O'Malley Show, and out topic today is taxes and tax reform. Let's take another call. Hello, caller, you're on the air. Um … Hi, this is Orville Lee, and I just what to say that I think folks are paying way too much these day. I mean, do they think we're all made of money? A lot of listeners have been asking that same question, Orville. I think ALL Americans should stand together and refuse to pay any more to those crooks. That would get their attention! Mister Lee, are you implying that you want to start a tax revolt? Tax revolt? What tax revolt? I'm talking about the price of bacon! Isn't this the "Greasy Chef Radio Hour"? Oops. Click. |

When the President refused to exted the Bush tax cuts, he explained why and that made sense to me. Dr. Noodle. But then when he extend them, I was confused. When the President insisted on a public option for health care, he explained why and that made sense to me. But then he abandoned the public option. I was confused. When the President insisted that the very rich, not just the poor, have to sacrifice to help balance the budget, that made sense to me. But then he signed a bill that didn't ask the very rich to pay even a single cent more in taxes. And you're confused. Not anymore. I miss being confused. |

Meanwhile, across town … Democrats reduced taxes, but we still convinced most voters their taxes had actually gone UP. The nonpartisan GAO announced Health Care Reform would REDUCE the deficit, but we still convinced most voters it would INCREASE the deficit. We convinced unemployed people to vote for a party that blocked the extension of unemployment insurance. Fear, Inc. BONUSES FOR EVERYONE!!! Woohoo!!! |

"In 1994, the HMOs aired a 'real' middle-class couple, Harry and Louise, talking about the Clinton Universal Healthcare Plan. Their fears convinced America the plan would lead to shoddy coverage, high taxes and global thermonuclear Armageddon. Then the '94 Harry and Louise disappeared ... ... but now, in our hour of need, they have returned to scare the spit out of us all over again!" When Harry and I were impaled by dolphin, our HMO said it was a pre-existing condition and refused to treat us. Stick to the script! So we died, is what I'm saying... I love my HMO. Government bad. |
