IRS. The man who audited Ernie's tax return has a second job as a chef. He's acquired a taste for this duel career. In an audit he likes peeling off the surface to see if the books have been cooked. He slices and dices every ingredient in a tax return. Then he lets you sit and stew before turning up the heat and grilling you. And a tax audit ends like the preparation of a fine dining meal, with the garnishing of wages. |

Lots of famous art may have been inspired by taxes. Jackson Pollack's "Number 5" could be a visual representation of global regulations. And perhaps Rodin's "The Thinker" is a man trying to understand those rules. Maybe Roy Lichtenstein's "Ohhh ... Alright ..." shows a woman being told to continue holding to get her tax question answered. And they there's Edvard Munch's "The Scream" ... Nothing makes you feel like that more than preparing a tax return! |

Tax Preparer. I'm working on my client's tax returns. Mars, being the "red planet," is claiming a business operating loss. Jupiter, with all those moons, takes deductions for almost 70 dependents. And earth has no new nations this year ... so no "capitol gains" to declare. Did Mercury lower his taxes? Yeah, he's eligible for a huge solar energy tax credit! |

Less than three weeks until taxes are due and we still have pils of complicated returns to finish! Of course, the three little pigs are looking for a new shelter again. Peter Pan is claiming he's exempt from payroll taxes because he'll never reach social security age. And with the complex rules for miners, ironically, we can't use the short form for the seven dwarfs! I'll never find time to do the return for our client, Rapunzel! Don't worry about getting Rapunzel's return done right now. I'll let you in on a little secret ... Rapunzel loves using extensions! |

Monster Tax Service. Tax season is in full swing now. It looks like the zombies had the same income as prior years but King Kong had a big increase. Kong is climbing the corporate ladder while the zombies are stuck in dead-end jobs. The werewolf had some extra income -- must have been moonlighting. The Hulk is taking some credits for going green, and Frankenstein's monster has a big medical expense deduction because of all his surgery. As usual, the Invisible Man has the cleanest return. He keeps detailed, accurate records and declares every penny of income. He's always been completely transparent. |

Look! Up in the Sky! Is it absurd? Is it inane? No! It's "Malaprop Man"! Malaprop Man! What's up? I'm being audited by the IRS. But I'm coming to it fully prepared! What's that stuff you've got there? Here's "Tax for the Memories" … and "Old MacDonald Had a Form"...."Amazing Gross" and "Don't Be Accrual" ... What are you bringing these for? The auditor said, "Bring all your tax records". I don't think that's exactly what he had in mind, M-Man. Darn! I knew I should have brought my CD's too! |

Wonderland Tax Prep. What a day! First, Jack with the bean stalk came in and I had to figure out the gain of that cow-for-beans trade! Then Rip Van Winkle! I didn't know where to start. He hasn't filed for twenty years! And Little Bo Peep came in, claiming another big deduction for lost sheep again! And the day's not over -- the seven dwarfs have an appointment! Cheer up! That'll be easy -- They all use the short form! |

A richly woven tapestry, subtly drawn from fact yet clearly unencumbered by any relation to reality ... I like that in a tax return. |

I see you did your own taxes Ernie. You deducted the money you wasted on tennis lessons? That's "net loss"! Fifty dollar deduction for the chiropractor? That's "Back Taxes". I don't think of it as tax collection, I think of it as annual spring cleaning. |

Look at the date on our copyright- January 14th. It's time to begin thinking about income taxes. You can use the short form or the long form. If you use the short form the government gets your money. The long form the tax consultant gets it! |
