Caption: Sir, we're not going to be flying over the North Pole. But isn't that the fastest way to Russia? Yes, but as you may know, the North Pole is a totalitarian dictatorship embroiled in a bloody civil war between state forces and elfin rebels. I don't follow the news. Anyway, my ticket says we transfer to a connecting flight there. Didn't you guys already know about this war? That's not why we're avoiding it. Santa International just melted. @#$% global warming.

Caption: Did you know that, with very few exceptions, police officers in Britain don't carry guns? That's not a myth? It's true. And most cops want to keep it that way to preserve the sense that they serve the people rather than the state. Cops in Britain think that the public not feeling oppressed protects them better than guns would. Everyone has health insurance ... almost no one gets shot ... they got rid of slavery 22 years before we did ... Maybe those guys are onto something.

Caption: Britain in India. France in Algeria. USSR in Europe… Modern history tells us long military occupations of sovereign nations always fail. As your president, I've come to the only logical conclusion… You're pulling us out of Iraq, sir? I'm appointing a "war czar" to referee bureaucratic squabbles between the State Department and other agencies. Just as wise. Then I'm refusing to give our soldiers a 3.5% pay raise.

Caption: Many officials believe our ongoing occupation of Iraq is destroying that country's government. In keeping with Secretary's Rice's warning of military action against any country destabilizing Iraq, the President has deployed naval forces to Washington, D.C. Will he successfully intimidate himself, or will there be war? But first our top story: The ongoing feud between Donald Trump and Rosie O'Donnell apparently has nothing to do with Britney Spears.

Caption: Reverend Wilfred, I'm going to recommend to the Board of Trustees that we replace you with someone who hasn't sold his soul to the White House for half a million dollars. But we need that government money, Deacon. That money makes it easy to help the poor in our community. It makes it easy to help the less fortunate -- easy to do God's work. Doing God's work isn't supposed to be "easy" Reverend. "Ministry that costs nothing, accomplishes nothing." Exactly. That's why I'm charging. What? What?

Caption: Meanwhile in an alternative universe where the response to the New Orleans flood was competent … Tuesday, August 30, 2005. Rather than playing golf today, the president sent the National Guard to new Orleans to join rescue efforts which -- instead of being haphazard -- were the result of years of careful planning by local officials. Tuesday evening ... Congress has granted the president emergency powers. The president has ordered police departments across the nation to contribute helicopters and pilots for food drops and to rescue citizens from rooftops. Thousands of national guardsmen have begun arriving in New Orleans. Wednesday, August 31, 2005. The sky is filled with helicopters. The president has ordered Greyhound to send all area buses to New Orleans and calls on truck owners in the region to volunteer evacuate the desperate citizens. Instead of condemning people for taking what they need to survive, the White House has ordered National Guard troops to crack down only on those looting non-essentials. Instead of blaming the victims. the head of FEMA has noted that the poor didn't have the resources to evacuate the city. Thursday September 1, 2005. New Orleans has been devastated, but quick action by authorities gave people enough hope that few resorted to violence. It could have been much worse. And instead of spending thousands of dollars on shoes in New York, Condoleezza Rice is doing her job.
