Date: 2018-02-25 Image Number: 168305 Caption: Hello, and welcome to another installment of "Edison's Science Sunday." Today my assistant Joules is going to help me demonstrate Newton's laws of motion. Hi. The first law states that my assistant's body will remain at rest unless acted upon by force. Newton's First Law. The second law states that the rate of change of momentum of his body is equal in magnitude and direction to the force applied to it. Wait! Force?! What - Newton's Second Law. Bam. The third law state that if one uses his assistant to demonstrate the second law, one must be prepared for an equal and opposite reaction. Oh, count on it, Newton boy!!

Cartoonist(s): John Hambrock Comic/Cartoon: The Brilliant Mind of Edison Lee Viewable Date: 2016-04-10 Pub. Date: 2016-04-10 Image Number: 140945 Caption: Scientific studies show that reading Hemingway's "The Old Man and the Sea" to otters raises their I.Q. by two points. Otters that accidentally eat the book show initial decrease in I.Q., but rebound after being read "Green Eggs and Ham." Cambridge, Yale and Boston University studies yielded mixed results when a group of North Atlantic otters were read "Moby Dick." An Oxford study, however, revealed a decrease of ten points when "Green Eggs and Ham" and "Moby Dick" were read to them simultaneously. And a recent government study concluded that otter I.Q. varies depending on their proximity to a library and the availability of public transportation to get them there. So do books increase or decrease an otter's I.Q.? Yes.
