Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2016-01-05 Pub. Date: 2016-01-05
Image Number: 137376
Caption: What's wrong with you? I just found out I can't eat if I want to vote. The state passed a "Voter ID" law. To get an ID, I need my birth certificate. To get a birth certificate, I need $35. I can either eat every day, or I can starve for the rest of the week so I can buy the certificate. Would you say voting is important, Rosencrantz? Why are you smacking your lips and looking at me like I'm a ham sandwich? (This cartoon was originally published on 2012-01-24).

42. Comic Strip Darrin Bell Candorville 2015-12-29 Rosencrantz
Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2015-12-29 Pub. Date: 2015-12-29
Image Number: 137114
Caption: I've considered what you said, about how every story, change only occurs after an interlude. But those are stories, Rosencrantz, not real life. In real life, the biggest changes often occur randomly and unexpectedly. There usually is no calm before the storm. We often jarringly shift from one storm to the next. And unlike with fictional characters, the actions of real people often don't make sense. I still demand to know why you took my shoe.

Image Number: 129548
Caption: Didn't you say we had to get going, Tyrone? That was then, Rosencrantz. In the intervening moments, inertia has set in. Idleness. Sloth. Lethargy. Torpidity. Can you feel it, Rosencrantz? The dull comfort of lethargy, draped over us … soft and fluffy, like a child's blanky. We'll get going tomorrow, I'm sure. Read me a story, Rosencrantz.

Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2015-07-15 Pub. Date: 2015-07-15
Image Number: 129546
Caption: Well, we'd better get going, Rosencrantz. Where is there to go, Tyrone? Don't be so hostile. What? I wasn't being hostile. I said your name simply to alert you that our conversation had begun. The only reason to insert a person's name mid-conversation is to express hostility. I'm sorry, Tyrone. That's it. We're through, Rosencrantz.

Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2015-07-14 Pub. Date: 2015-07-14
Image Number: 129545
Caption: Do you ever think you're too late, Rosencrantz? For what? You should've asked me that earlier. Earlier, my answer may have totally changed the trajectory of your life. Earlier, it would've mattered. You have some nerve asking me at this late a date, Rosencrantz. It's too early for this.

Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2015-03-27 Pub. Date: 2015-03-27
Image Number: 124645
Caption: Tyrone, in all the decades we've known each other, I've never once heard you sing. I sing all the time, Rosencrantz. When I see a child smile, my heart sings. When I find a tasty burger in the dumpster, my taste buds sing. Those who sing on the inside don't have to sing on the outside. Lean on me ... when you're not strong, I'll be your ... Stop being an exhibitionist. Spare change?

Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2015-03-03 Pub. Date: 2015-03-03
Image Number: 123663
Caption: Who is to say that the natural is any more real than the supernatural? My eyes. I believe what I can see, hear and feel. The existence of anything more is delusional conjecture. Oh really, Rosencrantz? You can't see, hear or feel your future … Don't you believe your future exists? You have just made me very, very depressed. (This cartoon was originally published on 2013-03-19).

Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2015-03-02 Pub. Date: 2015-03-02
Image Number: 123662
Caption: When a man is witness to a passing unicorn, he thinks "My God … I just saw a unicorn!" But when a man is witnessed witnessing a unicorn, that SECOND witness adds nothing bit skepticism about what the first witness witnessed. DO you know why mankind no longer believes in the supernatural, Rosencrantz? It's because the Earth is now filled with 7 BILLION "second witnesses." Tyrone, I still don't buy that a unicorn ate my sandwich. (This cartoon was originally published on 2013-03-18).

Image Number: 118789
Caption: According to Zeno's Paradox, you and I would be immortal, Rosencrantz. If life is a journey toward death, then to arrive at that destination we'd first have to travel half a life. Then half our remaining life, and so on; infinitely forever. But you're overlooking one crucial flaw in that theory. What flaw is that? Zeno's dead. (Published originally on March 29, 2012.)

Viewable Date: 2014-11-11 Pub. Date: 2014-11-11
Image Number: 118787
Caption: Don’t you hear the drums, Tyrone? Bappada-boom. Boom. Bappada-boom. Boom. … It's like the sound of The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, trotting steadily toward us. "Trotting"? Really, Rosencrantz, fear-mongering is all about word choice. "Scampering"? Still not scared. "Scooting"? (Published originally on March 27, 2012.)

Image Number: 117059
Caption: I was thinking "@$% foreigners should learn our language." But then it occurred to me … Within each of us is an entire universe of beliefs. It's as if each of us speaks his own language. Don't you see, Rosencrantz? We're ALL foreigners to each other. Show me your papers! (This cartoon was originally published on 2012-06-01).

Viewable Date: 2014-08-09 Pub. Date: 2014-08-09
Image Number: 114622
Caption: Interesting scientific fact, Rosencrantz: The beard appears to grow long after death. That's redundant. How so? Well, something can't exactly "grow short," can it? What? What? (Originally published on 2012-03-30).

Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2014-05-10 Pub. Date: 2014-05-10
Image Number: 111022
Caption: The suit-animals tossed me $85 in coins today, Rosencrantz. They gave you $84.50. So? Do you assume that makes you better? Do you not have even a flicker of doubt about that whole system of self-worth measurement? Suppose it had come down against you, with ME getting 50 cents more? It could easily have happened ... ... And by your system, that'd make you inferior. Shouldn't you be shining my shoes?

Image Number: 111021
Caption: I feel the spell about to be broken, Rosencrantz. What? It's been a very good day. Nice breeze, good company. Thank you. That means something bad's about to happen. We must pay for every measure of pleasure with an equal amount of pain. I'm still not letting your thump me on the head with your shoe. Rosencrantz, don't be an idiot. Do you want something even worse to happen?

Viewable Date: 2014-05-06 Pub. Date: 2014-05-06
Image Number: 111018
Caption: I'm scared of the implications, Rosencrantz. Implications of what? For the last seven days, every single coin that's been tossed to me has come up "heads." There's only one explanation for that, Rosencrantz. We … you and I … are dead. WHAT?! (Sigh) Ok, I'll prove it. Let's see ... how can I prove it? Oh, I know ... Toss me all of your coins.

Image Number: 106768
Caption: Do you believe in God, Tyrone? Yes, I … That's the first time I've ever heard you call me by my name, Rosencrantz. And? Names are for strangers, that's why friends make up nicknames for one another; or simply dispense with saying names all together. Tyrone, that's. Fine, if that' how you want it, we're through!

Image Number: 105432
Caption: What're we doing here, Rosencrantz? Do you ever ask yourself that? No. When I ask myself questions aloud, I very rarely refer to myself in the third person. Rosencrantz doesn’t like that.

Caption: Do you know how I know there's no God, Rosencrantz? Because we've been abandoned. Will Eat For Food. I once spun a top, Tyrone. I spun it and I walked away. How it fell, I have no idea. But I know this: an intelligent being spun that top. I thought you said YOU spun that top. Don't resent me just because I just blew your mind.
