Caption: Total immunity is a terrible thought, Rosencrantz. Imagine being immune to disease, to heat, to cold, to the vacuum of space … even to time itself. What once was fresh and new and amazing … Will, before long, become tedious, monotonous, and, ultimately, mournful and wretched. Geez ... All you had to say was You've told me that story before. It would be an eternity of melancholy.

Comic/Cartoon: Candorville

Image Number: 178422
Caption: Tyrone, have you ever seen a UFO? I believe I just witnessed one ascending into the heavens. That was no UFO. It was a gigantic ball of fire and hot dogs exploding from a barbecue pit on the fire escape of that building across the way. Most astounding sightings have mundane explanations, Rosencrantz. I challenge your understanding of the word mundane. Ironically, mundane is an interesting word. Spare change?

Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2019-04-23 Pub. Date: 2019-04-23
Image Number: 177324
Caption: There must have been a moment long ago when it all could have done differently, Rosencrantz … When the living could've chosen to be cooperative instead of predatory. Kind instead of cruel. Selfless rather than self-centered. It was probably when the first fish emerged from the sea to walk on land. If only it had been Lucy the fish instead of Sadie. Lucy never should've trusted that Sadie.

Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2019-04-18 Pub. Date: 2019-04-18
Image Number: 177223
Caption: Shouldn't we be doing something constructive, Rosencrantz? Will ear for food. I am, Tyrone. It is a known fact that there has never been a human achievement that was not first the figment of one person's imagination. Are you still expecting a hamburger tree to sprout from the sidewalk? Expecting it was my mistake. Now I'm imagining it.

Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2018-12-19 Pub. Date: 2018-12-19

Caption: We were respectable in those days, Rosencrantz. Which days, Tyrone? Those Halcyon days when we were finally on our own, still young and full of promise ... before the world picked us up and whittled away our options like we were pieces of driftwood. I think it was the period between October third, 1991, and October fifth, 1991. I remember that. (This cartoon was previously published on 2016-10-27)

6. Comic Strip Darrin Bell Candorville 2018-11-23 Rosencrantz
Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2018-11-23 Pub. Date: 2018-11-23
Image Number: 175067
Caption: What's wrong with you? We are not the paragon of animals, Rosencrantz. If we were, we could create colors not seen anywhere else in nature. Rather than hues of blue, red and green, we could have hues of Morp, Pilpatorn and Fwang. All I'm saying is, a truly superior species would have Morp-colored underpants. I don't think unnatural colors on my underpants would be comforting.

7. Comic Strip Darrin Bell Candorville 2018-11-22 Rosencrantz
Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2018-11-22 Pub. Date: 2018-11-22
Image Number: 175066
Caption: I heard a passerby comment that a plane has been stuck on the tarmac for seven hours and the passengers are furious. That's because they don't realize that life in a stranded plane is better than no life at all, Rosencrantz. They could sit there and think At lease we haven't crashed. And they've got all the peanuts and ginger in the world. I heard they've run out of peanuts. There will be blood. Spare change?

Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2018-11-14 Pub. Date: 2018-11-14
Image Number: 174937
Caption: There once was a man from Nantucket … who fell in love with his sock puppet. But one fateful day, a bird whisked it away, so the man went and grabbed his musket. What does it say of me, Rosencrantz, that given the alternatives, I was actually relieved when you ended that limerick with gruesome violence? Spare change?

Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2018-11-13 Pub. Date: 2018-11-13
Image Number: 174936
Caption: Again to pass time, we'll speak only in haiku. Your turn, Rosencrantz. I detest haiku. I will never utter one … How 'bout limericks?

10. Comic Strip Darrin Bell Candorville 2018-11-12 Rosencrantz
Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2018-11-12 Pub. Date: 2018-11-12
Image Number: 174935
Caption: Existence is cruel, Rosencrantz. And that is because of the nature of energy. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, so it must be stolen. For one creature to gain it, another creature or a plant must lose it and perish. To birth a star system and all its worlds ... a nebula must die. For a man to gain the good side of the sidewalk crack, his partner must lose it. Give it back. Your quarrel is not with me, Rosencrantz. It is with existence itself.

Viewable Date: 2018-11-10 Pub. Date: 2018-11-10
Image Number: 174825
Caption: Today, to pass time, we'll speak only in haiku. Your turn, Rosencrantz. Here's five syllables … and here's seven syllables … five more syllables.

12. Comic Strip Darrin Bell Candorville 2018-11-09 Rosencrantz
Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2018-11-09 Pub. Date: 2018-11-09
Image Number: 174824
Caption: Do you ever feel, Rosencrantz, as if we're bearing witness to the nation's end? … as if we're sitting beside the hospital bed of an old, grizzled friend … who's about to breathe his final breath? That feeling would be ominous. I don't do ominous. That sounds ominous.

Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2018-11-05 Pub. Date: 2018-11-05
Image Number: 174820
Caption: Have you voted, Tyrone? I tried, Rosencrantz. But I was purged. They said that I had moved, and I failed to register at my new address. But you haven't moved. You've been in this same alley for twenty years. They said my old address was adjacent to dumpster, but my new address is further away from dumpster. Well, did you at least vote provisionally? They said a rampaging pack of wildebeests devoured the provisional ballots.

Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2018-08-03 Pub. Date: 2018-08-03
Image Number: 173244
Caption: Rosencrantz, I think there was a diversion yesterday, and we let it slip away unexplored. Will eat for food. Speak for yourself, Tyrone. I seized the opportunity. I exploited it for all it was worth. For the first time in days, I experienced laughter. I experienced joy. I experienced satisfaction. Not directly, I mean. I saw another man experience it. But that's just the same, when you think about it. I'm jealous. That's something at least.

Image Number: 172072
Caption: I feel as if an interlude is coming to an end, Rosencrantz, and a new chapter begins anon. Stop using archaic words!! Fie! I have an appetency to force the world to bethink itself of anon.

16. Comic Strip Darrin Bell Candorville 2018-06-07 Rosencrantz
Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2018-06-07 Pub. Date: 2018-06-07
Image Number: 172071
Caption: Given enough time, audiences know what to expect, Rosencrantz. And with expectation comes acceptance. Give them crudty, and that is what they will accept. Give them erudition, and they will rise to accept that. Feed them a diet of lies, and they will learn to crave them. I still would prefer to eat my sandwiches before you've chewed them. Give it time.

17. Comic Strip Darrin Bell Candorville 2018-06-06 Rosencrantz
Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2018-06-06 Pub. Date: 2018-06-06
Image Number: 172070
Caption: I heard a loud, mysterious boom last night, Tyrone. As have people all over the world, Rosencrantz. Earthquakes where there should be none. Loud booms of unascertained origin. The masses are beginning to wonder if something is wrong with the earth itself. Or ... it could be that when you thought me asleep, you donned ballet shoes, crept to the middle of the alley and began twirling and dancing and accidentally leapt a grand jete into the dumpster ... it could've been that. What a man does in an alley, stays in the alley.

18. Comic Strip Darrin Bell Candorville 2018-06-05 Rosencrantz
Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2018-06-05 Pub. Date: 2018-06-05
Image Number: 172069
Caption: Did you feel the earth shake last night, Rosencrantz? I did, Tyrone. But to be honest, I don't know if I really felt it or if I only now believe I felt it because your query planted the thought in my brain. Nonsense. You are you own person. You thoughts are your own. I could never substitute my will for your own. You're right. I stand corrected.

19. Comic Strip Darrin Bell Candorville 2018-06-04 Rosencrantz
Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2018-06-04 Pub. Date: 2018-06-04
Image Number: 172068
Caption: Has it occurred to you, Rosencrantz, that we are never there? Wherever we are at any given moment is but a rest stop on a journey form where we were to where we are headed. All of existence is in motion. Sometimes I wonder what would happen if some great being would put its finger on existence and bring it to a halt. Even the great finger could not remain there forever, for the finger is always on a journey to somewhere else. I sense this thesis is about to go sideways, Tyrone.

20. Comic Strip Darrin Bell Candorville 2018-06-02 Rosencrantz
Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2018-06-02 Pub. Date: 2018-06-02
Image Number: 171950
Caption: I laugh at those who deem it insane when a man talks to himself, Rosencrantz … for we do not perceive reality. Instead, reality is transmitted through our sensory nodes, converted into electrical impulses, and transmitted across our synapses … whereupon our brains piece the impulses together and form an approximation of reality. Don't you see? Every person I've ever spoken with has been just a voice inside my head. Whatever, Tyrone. It's till creepy when you sing yourself to sleep.
