Caption: From the director of Leap Year Massacre and Everyone's Extremely Dead … comes an epic horror film … so terrifying you won't be able to sleep, or eat, or go into the basement, or bathe alone … or do anything ever. Again! This film is not yet rated, nor does it have a title, or a plot. Coming to theaters in 2019 or 2020 or whenever we get it together. Sounds awesome. Can't wait. Feel the terror!

Caption: Ernie is obsessed with baseball. Starting with "Catcher in the Rye," he thinks all the books we'll be reading in our book club are about the game. Surely Hemmingway's "A Farewell to Arms" is about pitchers retiring and leaving their teammates. Maybe "The Color Purple" is about the Colorado Rockies and their uniforms. It's likely Orwell's "1984" chronicles the Detroit Tigers championship season. And "Gone with the Wind"? It must be set on a blustery Chicago day with lots of home runs being hit at Wrigley Field!

Caption: What're you doing? Working on my novel. But I'm stuck … Dante trained dragons. He was said to be the greatest dragon trainer in the land. Wham! He was a professional. But one day a terrible illness befell Dante. His doctors were confounded because he got no better or worse. He simply lingered. And lingered. Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, months into years. Dante lingered so long his doctors died. Even his dragon died. Still Dante lingered. It's hard to know when to kill your pro-dragonist ...

Caption: I've decided to become a mystery writer. "Dark clouds filled the horizon as two young lovers walked along the shore. As if sensing something was about to happen, seabirds cautiously circled around the couple. Suddenly and without warning, the young man reached inside his jacket and pulled out a large bag of pretzels and began to feed the birds." I'm very proud of that opening. The story has just started and it's already filled with twists and terns.

Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2018-09-24 Pub. Date: 2018-09-24

Caption: I wrote a very realistic screenplay that subverts all the usual Hollywood cliches. We don't see the protagonist in a moody bar when he feels down; we spend an hour watching him fall asleep all alone in front of his TV … and when he tries to stop a wedding, it takes him half an hour to find a good parking spot, and he misses the whole thing. We watch him circle the block for half an hour. Cliches are cliches for a reason.

Caption: This country's moved too far to the left. You can tell every time you turn on the tv. There used to be shows like Little House on the Prairie, which taught good, wholesome family values … and Gunsmoke, which taught good, wholesome respect for the sheriff's proper role as judge, jury and executioner ... and The Munsters which taught us good, wholesome disdain for multiculturalism. Wait ... are you just messing with me?

Caption: The Dog Movie Reviews … There's nothing remotely unpredictable about anything that occurs in this movie. - Frank Scheck. Hollywood Reporter. That's hardly a recommendation. No, but given the movies you like … it hardly disqualifies it either. Tyler Perry is a genius!!

Caption: I've considered what you said, about how every story, change only occurs after an interlude. But those are stories, Rosencrantz, not real life. In real life, the biggest changes often occur randomly and unexpectedly. There usually is no calm before the storm. We often jarringly shift from one storm to the next. And unlike with fictional characters, the actions of real people often don't make sense. I still demand to know why you took my shoe. (Originally published on 2015-12-29).

Caption: Youtube reviews make me feel old, Randy. Well … they're always full of whining, nitpicky, smug people complaining that the film or tv show wasn’t easy enough to follow. Reviewers complain that characters actions "don't make sense," as if they unaware that people often don't make sense. Or that a scene wasn't "necessary," as if establishing character doesn't matter. They complain that the plot was "confused," but when I was growing up, that just meant the viewer wasn't paying enough attention. It's as if a lot of reviewers want everything spelled out for them so they don't have to actually figure anything out for themselves. Yeah ... definitely sounding old there, my friend. I wish these dumb reviewers would stay off my list of Youtube recommendations.

Caption: What brings you to therapy, Rudy? Dr. Noodle. I've been feeling like my whole life is on pause. And I can't find the remote to unpause it. Meanwhile, everyone else's stories are proceeding apace. They're all into the second act already. They've all had plot twists, and hero's journeys, and epic love scenes, and thrilling reversals of fortune ... Meanwhile, I'm still paused on the opening credits because no remote. Why don't you get up off the couch and unpause it manually? You can do that?

Caption: Tyrone, do you recall the days when we panhandled outside the theater? Of course, Rosencrantz. I remember them vividly. They were performing "King Lear," the Shakespeare play about the angry, vain old king who slowly descended into madness. He carved up the kingdom and gifted it to his children. He gave the largest piece to the daughter who flattered him the most. What happened at the end of the play? I don't know. Why do you ask? Spare change?
