Caption: My people came from a paradise. We were all rich, well-educated homeowners who spoke English. Really? Of course not! It was a censored hole! We were all little censored who escaped, came here, and made this place censored too! Funny thing about censored when you spread it around and give it time, it sprouts roses. I thought you weren't supposed to use censored on flowers 'cause of parasites. All metaphors break down at some point. But you get the idea.

Caption: Welcome to Ask Sadie. You're on, Vancouver. What's your problem? I met this really cool guy who makes my toes go numb … but I'd already been talking to another guy. The thing is, I want them both. Is that selfish? Excellent question. This reminds me of the time I went to the Sizzler salad bar. I wanted both the ranch dressing and the vinaigrette. So what I did was, I poured both of them all over my lettuce at the same time. Metaphor. No, just two. Wait ... what?

Caption: What brings you to therapy, Rudy? Dr. Noodle. I've been feeling like my whole life is on pause. And I can't find the remote to unpause it. Meanwhile, everyone else's stories are proceeding apace. They're all into the second act already. They've all had plot twists, and hero's journeys, and epic love scenes, and thrilling reversals of fortune ... Meanwhile, I'm still paused on the opening credits because no remote. Why don't you get up off the couch and unpause it manually? You can do that?

Caption: When do you think they invented peanut allergies and gluten allergies? "Invented"? As a child, every kid I knew snorted half a kilo of peanut butter and jelly on a daily basis. And every kid I knew had an IV that pumped chocolate chip cookies straight into their veins. Nobody ever had a "gluten" problem ... And no, they don't have IVs like that, I was speaking metaphorically. Don't get my hopes up like that.

Caption: All I said was, thanks to Sadie, I know what's wrong with the Middle East. Amanda Kern. Comics Counseling. It's the birthplace of civilization. It's the dysfunctional family home from whence we all came. It's ruled by a stubborn and cranky old know-it-all mother with a superiority complex. She never changes, which is why the kids, once they came of age, got the heck outta there and only come by once in a while to referee her arguments with dad and make sure they're still in her will ... and for some reason, that upset her. This means jihad.

Caption: I made fun of your age the other day. I'd like to apologize. That's odd. Does the blade of grass apologize to the lawnmower? Does the bug apologize to the windshield? Does the ant apologize to the boot? Those are some interesting analogies. Did they make more sense back in the middle ages when you first came up with them? I sense a boot coming

Caption: I think Uncle Mort's lost it, Randy. I disagree, little buddy. Maybe he does think a dolphin called him on the phone. But that's not conclusive. Sure, he says the dolphin told him all the earth's sentient species convened an unprecedented council and vowed to band together to exterminate us if we voted for Donald Trump ... but maybe he's just talking in metaphor. This morning he threw himself on the mercy of a salamander.

Caption: Randy, if you were stranded on an island, what's the one book you'd want to have along with you? Easy: Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. It's got the perfect heft to knock coconuts out of trees. Well, I'd like to have How to Get off an Island, by Archie MacGuyver. That title's actually a metaphor for overcoming shyness. We really should have our own book review show.

Caption: I'll have a "Bernie Sanders." Sorry, Uncle Mort. That's not on the menu. Of course it is. It's been a popular menu item for months! Young people rave about it! They get bumper stickers and go to massive rallies! They go online and tell everyone they should just give the drink a chance! It's the best drink available, they say! It's snazzy! It's aces! It's a real sweet patootie! And then when the time comes to actually go out and buy it, guess what happens? Those crumbs forget to bring their wallets. I'm not really sure where you went with that analogy Uncle Mort. Never mind. Just give me a chamomile tea.

Caption: What can I get you? An explanation for that dumb reason why Batman and Superman stopped fighting at the end of Batman V Superman. Would you like that spoiler-filled or spoiler-free? Spoiler-filled would be lovely, please. Ok. Batman did not stop fighting Superman just because both of their moms were named "Martha." "Martha" was not just a person. In Batman's nightmares, "Martha" had come to represent all that was good about him. When Superman whispered "Martha," it did two things: It forced Batman to see Superman as a person who - even as he was about to die - was only concerned with the safety of his human mother. So maybe he's not the alien monster who needs to die that Batman had thought he was ... And secondly, it reminded Batman of the good that used to be in him. The goodness "Martha" personified. Batman was on the verge of becoming a bad guy. When he swore "Martha will not die tonight," he was not just promising to save Clark's mom. he was promising to save his own soul. That'll be $14.95. Can I also get a side of explaining why Captain America and Iron Man can't just agree to disagree?

Caption: I recently read "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up". It's changed my life, minion. Pay attention. May involve me. The reason a lot of us never have a truly clean house is, we settle. Settlers. Pilgrims. Turkey. Our clothes, for instance. Our closets are full of stuff we're just ok with. What we should do is take everything out, lay it all on the bed, go through it ... and anything we have to think about keeping, we toss. Floss. The only things you should keep in your closet are the ones that immediately fill you with joy. Almond Joy. Joy Behar. The human mind is much like a closet. To be truly happy, we must eliminate any unnecessary thoughts that don't bring us joy. I meditate every morning to ensure all my thoughts are profitable. It's important to focus. My next car might be a yellow Ford Focus.

Caption: What's your question for "Ask Sadie"? What's with that senseless riot in Baltimore? What do you mean? America has a long history of self-destructive riots in response to police brutality. It's senseless to call it senseless. A city is like a human body. If you feed a body an awful diet of abuse and unaccountable cops, that body's eventually going to have a massive coronary. In short: Learn your history! And eat oatmeal! Oat ... What? What are you talking about?

Caption: They never call, they never write … Open mike night presents Sadie Cohen. They come but once a year. I worked and slaved, I diapered them … but they don't seem to care. True, it's clear I'll control their lives, if they should get too near. Grown kids are planets, on their own. But mother's still the sun. If they don't call this week, I'll go supernova on their behinds. That doesn't rhyme!

Caption: What's your new year's resolution, Sadie? To stop being so nice to you, and start helping you. I will be more caustic in my condemnations, more scathing in my sarcasm, more venomous in my vilification, and harsher in my heckling. I will be, to you, as the fire is to the tree. I will burn you at every opportunity, so that your bark will toughen up and you'll start growing strong, bountiful leaves. I'm not sure that's what fire does to a tree. You will thank me!!!

Caption: What's the worst thing that could happen if Russia invades all the former Soviet Republics? I suppose the worst thing that could happen is all those people would find themselves back under the thumb of tyranny. Why's it always "under the thumb"? It's fists and feet that do most of the damage in this world. The thumb never did anything to anybody. This is why I don't talk politics with you.
