Caption: Let me get this straight: You wrote a story about you and me getting kidnapped in Mexico, infiltrating a drug cartel run by monsters, and causing the end of the world. And you want me to go to "Candorville dot com" backslash "2009," backslash "11," backslash "09," backslash "elevation," so I can read all about it because now you think it all really happened. Is that correct? candorville.com/2009/11/09/elevation. No, it's not. It's not. You said "backslash," when those are clearly "forward slashes." Fascinating. (Published originally on April 29, 2011).

These are dreams you're talking about, Lemont. Not memory. DREAMS. PhD. I know the difference, doctor. THESE ARE MEMORIES! THESE ... Just wondering, does my HMO pay for recovered memories? Caption: It's all coming back to me, doc. I was reporting on the Mexican drug cartels … PhD. Then it all went wrong. I got kidnapped. I ignored warnings. I made a mistake. AND THE WORLD ENDED. Lemont? We're still here. If the world ended, how can that be? How can the sky glow after the sun has already set? How can smoke rise after the candle has already gone out? Yes, yes ... How can my tongue still taste all aluminum-y long after I finish the diet cola? Leave the poetry to your patients. PhD. (Published originally on April 27, 2011.)

Caption: Come again? I feel happy, and that bugs me. I see. Why is that? Global warming … Recession … Half the nation hates the other half … If I'm happy in spite of all that, it means I'm in serious denial. Denial's underrated. I'm so happy it makes me miserable.

She's not a spoiled, self-centered harpy who wants to change me. PhD. She doesn’t belittle my manhood and suck the life out of me like an evil vampire. PhD. It's only been a year. Maybe it's not time to see someone new. There's a lot not to hate about her. Scribble Scrib -

Caption: I've been trying to figure out why I didn’t vote. I tell people it's because I don't like choosing between the lesser of two evils, but I don't think that's it. I mean, I choose between the lesser of two evils every day, all day long. Do I drive a car that'll pollute the environment, or do I rise a bike with rubber tires that also pollute? Do I call my mom and disappoint her with my life choices, or not call her and be a bad son? Do I give my therapist a bad check, or do I wait till her turns his head and make a break for it? Wait ... what?

Caption: I'm through with looking for a woman to date. That's drastic. Dr. Noodle. Not really. I've realized I've always had a void. Deep in my soul. PhD. I've always felt alone, unloved, unneeded … As if there were no one expecting me to be a great man. When I was a kid, I filled that void with comics. Then later, with a woman's love. But you've realized the void is just too deep for anyone to fill? There is no woman alive who can love me so completely ... ... That I'll finally feel like I'm an important part of the world and I have a purpose. You're thinking of seeking GOD'S love? I'm thinking of dating TWO women. PhD. v

Caption: You can't decide you're recovered, Lemont. Yes I can. Dr. Noodle. Psychological wounds are every bit as real as physical ones. What if you had a tumor? What do you mean? Would you tell your surgeon "no need to cut it out. I'll remove it myself with a spork"? Best. Utensil. Ever. Same time next week?

Caption: My brother used to collect DC Comics, while I collected Marvel. He always acted like his were so much better than mine. Dr. Noodle. "Superman could kick Spider-man's butt!" he'd say. One time he said … "What's that? Wolverine is jealous of Cyclops? Tell me about that later, I think The Flash is about to sacrifice himself to save the entire universe." But look what's happened: Marvel's superhero movies are SPANKING DC's. "Avengers" earned $50 trillion, while the last "Superman" flick made $42.50. All I asked was "Do you still feel inferior because your brother bought a house while you're still renting a studio apartment?" And all I'm saying is, you win some, you lose some.

How do you feel about what Lemont just said? What if I only scare him twice a week. THIS IS NOT A NEGOTIATION!!! Ok, three times a week, but I feel like I'm compromising more than he is. (this cartoon was originally published in 2010).

Caption: She's crazy! She's been scaring me spitless for YEARS. Have not. Very few SCIENTISTS BELIEVE AIDS MAY or may not HAVE MUTATED INTO AN AIRBORNE VIRUS!!! HOLDing YOUR BREATH is not necessary! You forgave me for that! You can't keep throwing that in my face! And what was all that mess about asteroids blowing up the Earth? I thought we moved past that. But then I realized people in other countries are worried about being massacred, or starving, or being eaten by wild caribou. What right do I have to be wrapped up in my petty first-world problems when all that's going on? Don't you think that's a real break-through? Whatever. You still owe me for last week. PhD.

But still, sometimes I'm so insecure about it, I won't even go outside. Having a big one's normal. Plenty of five-foot tall men have ones that look like they belong on seven-foot tall men. What? I'm talking about my armpit odor. Oh ... um ... Wait ... what are you getting at?

Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville

Caption: What's the main reason I'm here, you mean? Dr. Noodle. I'd have to say the main reason is that I'm controlled by my fears. … Or maybe it's because I interrupt people way too much. … Or maybe it's because my parents are suffocating me. … Or maybe it's because I have trouble making decisions. Eureka. Maybe I actually don't need therapy.
