Caption: I can't believe it -- rejected by Computer Villa. This is it. This must be the low point of my existence. Sir … You look down on your luck. Here's a dollar to help you upgrade that old iPod. I stand corrected. You really shouldn't walk around with that old thing.

Caption: This year, I will become a better person. That's a low bar. I just can't sit by and watch corporate America outsource jobs. Are you serious? Big businesses are cutting pension funds and health care benefits. They're contributing to the greatest income gap between laborers and management that we've seen since the depression. This year, I vow to do a better job. Of? Joining corporate America in crushing the little guy. I just pray I have the strength to see this through. I vow to wilt like a lily.

Caption: The cleansing process isn't working. For some reason, I can't seem to purge myself of the urge to hit on chicks. Why bother? I do it once a year for a week so that I can prove I have some control over my life and urges and so I can see new things in the world, besides just hot gals. For instance, did you know we have a bicameral democracy? Duh. Learned during cleansing '86, the year after discovering low-fat cheese. Of equivalent efficacy.

Caption: Rudy, it's come to my attention you've spilled 348 gallons of coffee and tea. What? I did not! I'm talking over the course of the last 16 years. Don't bother denying it, every time you've spilled a drop, Gunther measured it. Gunther? Who's Gunther? That's what I named him. He came here on a low-skilled work visa. He's been working under the floorboards ever since it expired. Very bad man.

Caption: Sorry, Rudy, no way can I raise your pay to $15 an hour. Why not? 'Cause that would destroy jobs. What would you do for a job once I moved the café to somewhere where people earn much less? If people earn much less, they won't be able to afford your products. Sweet, innocent Rudy. If there's one thing people love more than affording to buy stuff, it's buying stuff they can't afford.

Caption: We're back from Canada. What happened? Mommy tried getting in, but they said "Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton being nominees is not grounds for refugee status." Well, welcome back. The country wouldn't have been the same without its future low-paid, debt-laden workforce. What? ... I mean, without "you."

Caption: That Chinese stock market crash really wrecked our own market. Did you lose big when the market tanked? On the contrary. Let's say a café owner accidentally sold 12 50% stakes in his café to 12 different people. Let's say he knew it was just a matter of time before that misunderstanding landed him in jail ... unless those investors panicked and sold back the stock at an absurdly low price to the cafe owner ... and let's say the cafe owner had a few corrupt officials in China who owed him a massive favor. Wait ... you're not saying that you are responsible for the global stock market crash ... That's right. I'm not saying it.

Caption: Boss, the customers are asking what happened to the stools. What do they mean? The round seat parts are gone. They're just poles sticking out of the floor now. The biggest problem a café owner faces is low turnover. People buy one drink and sit for hours, hogging all the seats. I've solved that problem. Where are all you people going? Man up!

Caption: You're on "Ask Sadie." What's your problem?! The price of oil is plummeting. So why're all my stocks doing so badly? I own 500 shares of Big-Box-Store Inc., 300 of Useless-Crudco, and 400 of Mindless-Consumerism Conglomerated. With gas prices so low, people have a lot more money to blow on consumer goods, so the market should be booming! I don't get it! First of all, oil is falling because there's too much supply. And having too much gas is never a good thing. Wait ... this isn't "Money Talk"?

Caption: I've found it! It was in the bread box! You've found the lost cellphone! SMASH! CRASH BOP! SMASH! Today's feature is offered as a catharsis for anyone who has ever lost a cellphone and been forced to listen to its low-battery beep from some undiscovered place. SMASH. Final beep (Death).

Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Rudy Park

Image Number: 109293
Caption: To recap: Rudy lost a cellphone inside the café. Low on batteries, the phone began to periodically beep. But it couldn’t be located because the sound was just too short. Was it under a couch cushion? In a drawer? The trash? All that was certain was the ensuing madness. Will it go away if I move to deep space? BEEEP. It is quiet in outer space. BEEP. Only headgear I could find at my house. Left over from a date. BEEEP (weird).

Image Number: 109292
Caption: What's that annoying sound? BEEEP. I've figured it out! I lost one of my cell phones. It's somewhere in the café and is low on batteries, so it's beeping to let us know to recharge it. BEEEP. So follow the sound of the beep to find the phone. BEEEP. I can't! The sound is too short to follow. So call the phone and follow the ring. Ringer's off! Madness to ensue ...
