Caption: Sometimes economists come to counter-intuitive conclusions. That happened when Professor Ernie did a case study on a small city. They have a thriving top-notch medical center which was adding lots of surgical staff. Firms prepping diamonds for jewelry and movie-editing companies are relocating to the city. And the sawmill was adding a shift. Now hiring. His seemingly illogical conclusion now makes sense. With "cutting jobs" they saw increased levels of employment!

Caption: Today, we'll talk with Professor Ernie about some lesser known units of measurement. Let's start with the "light-year." A 'light-year" is a unit of time measuring how long somebody stays on their diet. In most cases, it's counted in small fractions. No, a light year is a unit of length equal to the distance light travels in a year, about six trillion miles. What about the "angstrom"? The "angstrom" is a measurement of anxiety levels! Incorrect again. It's another unit of length --- It's used to describe atomic-level distances. Here's one which isn't a unit of length. What does "foot-pound" measure? That's obvious. Kickboxer punches!

During the Great Depression, there was a deflationary spiral in which lower prices resulted in lower wages and lower demand which resulted in more price declines. Deflation would be a good thing! Checks wouldn't bounce as much! If Mister Buck is put in charge, the next bailout will turn into a deep-water salvage operation!

Caption: Hey, Frank, look at this! Money multiplies as it's spent again and again moving from person to person. Economics: The Multiplier Effect. When money is injected into a local economy, income and consumption rise by an amount greater than that initially injected because the money circulates multiple times. With each transfer of money there are "leakages", savings and taxes, for example. The higher the level of leakages, the lower the value of the multiplier will be. Big deal! I spend my paycheck several times over all by myself! ... And that's before I even get it!
