Caption: I never asked what you and Ace Peerless did for Valentine's Day. We competed. I surprised him with a portrait of us that I painted … and he surprised me by sending a white horse to take me to the beach, where the Candorville Philharmonic performed an original composition Ace had written for me. At the crescendo, which was times to greet the sunset, Ace descended from the sky on a hang glider, accompanied by a flock of doves and eagles. Vancouver and I Skyped and exchanged heart emojis. I'll never know who Ace trained those birds to make that huge heart formation.

Caption: Why do people revere the "founding fathers" as if they were infallible gods? Seriously, a lot of these guys were know-it-all twenty-somethings who had very little life experience. And then there were the ones in their forties. You never trust a guy in his forties. That's when a guy flips out, leaves his wife and buys aa shiny new horse.

Caption: Yesterday I was joking around with Clyde, and I called his momma a "horse." Right away, I felt guilty. Women are human beings, not barn animals. So my joke was kind of sexist. It's not your fault, Lemont. You can't help it. ALL men are pigs.

Caption: Wanna play "Horse"? NO I don’t wanna play "Horse." Thug 4 Life. When you gon' learn to play basketball like a grown man? Grown men dribble the ball. Grown men sweat. Grown men throw elbows. Grown men talk trash about each other mommas. I would've said "Wanna play 'Clyde's Momma'?" But I thought "Horse" was more concise. Too little too late.

Caption: Rev, you know how you announced that we need $100k for renovations? Why do you ask, Marlin? Well … A congregant named Steven Warren put a $100,000 check in the donation plate. I don’t know if we should cash it: it seems like it must be a mistake. For one thing, the largest donation we ever made before was $50. "Looketh not a gift horse in the mouth." Not an official verse, but it should've been. Also, he mistakenly signed it "Mick E. Mouse. "Letteth not an unconventional nickname stop you from cashing a check." Not an official verse ...

Caption: Congress considers bailing out yet another failed industry. Maybe your industry's obsolete. Ever thought of that? What if Congress bailed out the horse and buggy industry in 1890? We wouldn't have cars today. What if Congress had bailed out Medieval scriveners? The printing press never would've gotten off the ground. A. Bunker, FEAR, Inc. With respect, there, Senator… (a), My industry ain't never gonna be, whachacall, "obsolate." Sure, you got yer fancy-pants "hope," an' it's all new an' shiny, an' ev'ry meathead wants ta get his mitts on it. ...but all it takes is one good attack, or one serial killa, an' WHAMMO! WE... are back in STYLE! ...An' (b), there weren't no Congress in them Medieval times. Don't get smart.

Caption: Are you sure you want to marry my little Roxanne, Lemont? Why do you ask? I read your latest poem on your blog. Oh, the one about the pony who dreamt of being a horse? No, the one about a blogger who impregnates an evil witch, marries her, and then she and her demonic offspring nibble at his flesh for the next 18 years. I fail to see the connection. "...Not the fangs, Roxanne! Not the fangs!"
