Caption: Ask Sadie Advice Hour. What's your problem?! The other day, my grandpa tried driving to the corner store but got lost and ended up at the beach, six states away. How do I get him to realize it's time to stop driving without hurting his feelings? Excellent question. it reminds me of the time in 1863 when grandpappy Cohen accidentally led a caravan of zoo-bound pelicans onto a field in Gettysburg. One particularly panicky pelican escaped and distracted General lee, and the rest is history. Um ... Ok ...

But I was in Singapore, so … Yes, momma, they have the internet in Singapore. But I was a little busy covering the brutal tyrant and the president. (Sigh) No, momma, I'm pretty sure I haven't used that excuse before .... Hello?

Caption: But I can't get rid of it. Momma told me it belonged to my father, and to his father before him. I never knew either of them. Susan, the only family heirloom I have from them are my hat, my antique pocket watch and this. A microwave oven is not a "family heirloom," Lemont. Get rid of it. But Grandpa Brown warmed up his rations with it during the Korean War. It's time, Lemont.

Caption: Yesterday, I visited my 97-year-old grandpa for the first time in six months. Dr. Noodle. He opened his door. I said "Grandpa! I missed you!" He looked me up and down and said "You gained a pound." It was all I could think about the whole time. As I drove him to his favorite restaurant, I was worried the seatbelt made me look bulgy ... When we ordered, I felt like he was judging my choices and so I only ordered crackers and water. When I hugged him goodbye, I sucked my gut in as hard as I could. Why don't we just focus on the fact he hugged you? When he hugged me, he said "You at that whole cracker."

Caption: Grandpa's 97th birthday is coming up. I have no idea how to time my gifts for him. Dr. Noodle. What do you mean "time" gifts? One year, I bought him a new set of dominoes, and he hated it. He gave it to the mailman. The next year, my sister bought him the very same set, and he loved it. He brags about it to me all the time. The next year, I bought him a gold pocket watch. He gave that to the pizza delivery guy. My sister gave him the same one the following year and he loves it so much that he's always putting it in my face and asking me what time it is. Maybe we should talk about the concept of "denial." Ok. But after we talk about why I keep picking the right presents in the wrong years.

Caption: Lionel asked me if he has a grandpa, and I didn't know what to tell him, Susan. How do I tell a two-year-old that I never knew my father, my mom refuses to even tell me his name … and that his other grandfather disappeared overseas after the FEDs raided his corporation? So I just put on "Sesame Street" and pretended to fall asleep.

Caption: Hillary Clinton's announcement video was full of average people talking about their hopes. She didn't even appear till the end. It's like she thinks doing that will make everyone forget how she's always seemed to be all about her. Or maybe you've always been wrong about her. The last time I saw rebranding on such a massive scale was when granddad stole all those cattle.

Caption: Today is my grandpa's 94th birthday. I went shopping for a gift. Then I remembered … Dr. Noodle. A few years ago, he tried teaching me to play dominoes. We'd play with his beat up, weathered dominoes that looked older than my dad … Later, when I was vacationing in Mexico, I bought him a new set of dominoes, hand-carved from obsidian, with jade inlays. I carried it through the jungle for weeks, gave it to him for his 90th birthday. A week later he gave it to the mailman. Old people have old things because of sentimental value. This year I'm getting him oatmeal.

Caption: You're reached the home of Lemont Brown. Please leave a message. Hi baby. It's momma. Thank you for the digital picture frame you sent me and you loaded it with all those lovely photos of you and your little friends Clyde and Susan. I just have two questions, baby. First, when is this Little-Miss-Susan gonna stop leading my baby around by the nose with all this "platonic friends" nonsense? Someone needs to tell her she ain't gettin' any younger -- or prettier. Oh you two would make momma some beautiful grandbabies. She got them thick child-bearin hips on her, y'see. Second, how come you never bring your friends by?
