Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2009-01-25 Pub. Date: 2009-01-25

Caption: I'm tired of people comparing anti-gay laws to bigotry against Black folks. I mean, WE faced slavery and lynchings and beatings. Sure, gays have been beaten and killed for centuries, slaughtered in the Holocaust, and denied equal rights and everything, but that's just not the same. If it were all that bad, they'd have had their own miniseries by now. Say what? Where's the gay "Roots"? You just don't see it. Until I see the gay Kunta Kinte on my TV, I refuse to take any of this seriously.

Caption: So, you voted for Obama as the realization of Dr. King's dream that we'd all be judged by who we are, not what we are… Check. …and that all of us would have equal rights. Check. And then you voted to take equal rights away from gay people. Check. And you don't see any shameful irony in that. Check.

Caption: Hello young, low-income, or minority voter. Don't forget to vote this Saturday. You mean TUESDAY. And remember, if you're a student and your parents claimed you as a dependent, you're ineligible to vote… Huh? That's a lie. …And if you do vote, you'll lose your financial aid and health insurance. You're crazy. If you haven't paid your taxes and you vote, you'll be audited. Ok, that's it. Get lost. SLAM! If you have a Spanish surname and you try to vote, you might be deported to Cuba. Millions of minorities, elderly, poor, and injured veterans have been accidentally electrocuted by voting machines. ...Just sayin'. I'M NOT LISTENING!

It exploits men too, see? So what?! They're all being exploited to make profits for some men! Actually, this magazine was published by women. Oh, I get is "post-feminist". Prude.

Image Number: 18529
Caption: Sometimes when my fellow anti-gay Republicans get caught trolling for gay sex in bathrooms, it makes me think about an uncomfortable truth. What? That being in a party that hates you and denies people like you equal rights… …can make you do crazy things to keep your identity a secret? Yes, you understand me. No, that's not it at all.

Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2007-08-24 Pub. Date: 2007-08-24
Image Number: 18336
Caption: Senator Obama, you're opposed to same-sex marriage. How's that any different from the opposition to interracial marriage in the 1960s? It's totally different. I believe gays should have "civil unions," not "marriage." It's different, but the same. They'd have all the same rights as "married" people. So it would be separate but equal. Yes. ...No... Wait...

Caption: 2007. Gay marriage is wrong. 1967. I mean, if negras and whites can marry, it'll ruin the whole institution! 1947. By George, if I let my daughter marry a Jew, where will it end? 1867. Pretty soon our womenfolk will think they can marry Yankees! 1692. And sweareth I, in the Lord's name, my daughter shall never marry a left-handed boy, lest both doth burneth at the stake as witches! 2,000,000 B.C. Groog, moogog, tsrong, grunt oont brawwwk!

Caption: The ghost of Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall is haunting Clarence Thomas. No, we have not killed Brown v. Board of Education. In fact, our ruling is based on the principles of Brown, and of Martin Luther King, Jr. We have a dream… …that one day a Black child and a White child can hold hands together... ...provided they can both afford to live near the same school. I'm paraphrasing, of course.

Image Number: 16386
Caption: I'm tired of Libs saying Fox News is racist just 'cause their "Daily Show" rip-off made fun of Barack Obama. So what if the bit started by showing a bunch of Africans jumping around? That doesn't mean Fox was playing on racial fears. I mean, since when have white people feared mobs of unruly blacks?

Caption: Fox's show about Obama started with shots of jumping Africans and ended with "Don't tell mama, I'm for Obama." How can you say that's not racist? Thought you'd never ask. What's this? My uncle gave me this book. Changed my whole life. "The Delusional Black Man's Guide to Interpreting the Behavior of Others." Page 87: "That security guard's only following you to make sure nothing bad happens to you."

Caption: Hi, I'm Mel Gibson. You may have heard about my recent drunk driving arrest. I didn't really mean it when I said the Jews cause all the wars in the world, or when I creepily asked my arresting officer "Are you a Jew?" I would like to take this opportunity to apologize in person to the Jewish people. I hope to someday earn their forgiveness , and I ask for their help in this time of healing. Ok, but what are you doing here? Aren't you Murray Kleinman, apartment 3B? Lemont Brown. 3A. Dang. I apologize for any crazy @#$% I may someday say about the blacks. Ok. We get it. You're sincere. Can I go back to bed now.

Image Number: 13931
Caption: But I do have a job. Blogging from home isn't a job, Lemont. A job is when you put on a suit, get a bagel and coffee and ride the subway with stinky people at 8AM to a stuffy building with your boss calls you" sweetheart" and then gives your promotion to a less-qualified man. Is there something you want to talk about, Susan? Spoken just like a man.
