Caption: They got to him. I don't know how, but they got to him. Dr. Noodle. I should've seen it coming, though. After all, a guy who gets all butt-hurt about questions is the White House Spokesman in charge of answering questions. A guy who opposes paid leave and equal pay is in charge of the White House's responses to women's issues. A guy who doesn't believe in climate change is in charge of the EPA. A reputed bigot is in charge of enforcing civil rights. Trump even tried to put a guy whose company violated wage, hour and child labor laws in charge of the Department of Labor. I still don't think we know what Luke Skywalker meant by "it's time for the Jedi to end." I don't like Star Wars now that I know it's set in the Trump White House.

Caption: It's too bad the National Cartoonists Society's awards ceremony happens to be in Memphis tomorrow. Tennessee just passed a law allowing therapists to discriminate against lesbian, gay, and transgender people. So now these hundreds of cartoonists are going to be basically supporting a new Jim Crow state. Every hamburger will have segregation sauce. Every glass of booze will be a glass of separate-but-equal. Every Snickers they pull from the minibar will taste of nougaty injustice. I'm getting very hungry.

Caption: … And that's when I told Dick Fink he was on thin ice. "Forgetting" to tell me about the "Ask Sadie" radio show meeting was one thing … but "accidentally" replacing my Powerpoint with a slideshow full of Photoshopped pictures of me kicking puppies is something else. My boss won't let me fire him. He even said I was "overreacting" and being "self-centered." ... Actually, I asked if you wanted to hear about my day. And guess what else he said ...

Caption: Sir, I just found out Gary earns 15% more than I do. I'd like an explanation. Well it's simple, Garcia: Gary has a wife to support. You don’t. That's why he's paid more. Seriously, sir? That explanation's the worst. But earlier you said you'd "like" it. You lied. And you wonder why Gary's paid more.

Caption: Heavenly Father, when I spoke out in favor of equal marriage rights for gays, half my congregation quit. If I don't change my mind, they won't come back. Reverend of the Year. 2000. If you think I should stay true to myself even if it means losing everything, give me some sign, heavenly Father ... So what you're saying is, it's really kind of a gray area?

Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2012-04-01 Pub. Date: 2012-04-01
Image Number: 77568
Caption: I'm tired of opportunists pretending there's some sort of "War on women." … Just because in the states, we're trying to de-fund Planned Parenthood, repeal equal pay enforcement acts, and force women to undergo unnecessary medical procedures. … And just because we're trying to make sure women can only have contraceptive coverage in their health insurance if their bosses decide they can. None of that has anything to do with women. It's all about freedom. Besides, if chicks has less nookie, they wouldn't have to pay so much for the pill. That's not how the pill works. I have a constitutional right to decide how the pills does and doesn't work.

The issue of marriage equality is best handled by the states. But … if there's one thing the Civil Rights Movement taught us, it's that only the federal government can stop the states from denying minorities their equal rights. SEGREGATION NOW, SEGRATION FOREVA! Stop that.

Caption: Lemont Brown interviews President Obama's "Evolving position on gay marriage." President Obama's the product of an interracial marriage ... ... which was illegal in almost half the country when he was born. How could he, of all people, think government has the right to stop two people from marrying? Stop that. Strong "civil union" am good enough. Separate from "marriage" ... but equal.
