Caption: Cup of tea. You always order that. Why not try something else? Because unlike you and your entire generation, I don’t have a fear of commitment. Tea has treated my body well and tasted lovely to me for years, so I'm loyal to it. Unlike you, I don’t have philandering tastebuds!!! It's just a little coffee or juice. It means nothing. (This cartoon was originally published on 2014-02-11).

Caption: I'm sorry, we're all out of mocha. Want something else? Yes, I want you to run to Starbucks and get me a mocha. I'm … what? Sorry, I can't do that. You have to. Or I'll sue. Sue for what? I saw your menu from the sidewalk. I'm not following. If your menu is viewable from the sidewalk, it's considered advertising. If you advertise a product but you don't have it in stock and you don't cross it out, that's false advertising. And that's a crime. So what's it going to be? Are you going to run down to Starbucks or do you want me to bring the wrath of the entire judicial system down upon you? I'm not sure any of that is true. But I could use the fresh air. While you're there, would you be a poodle and get me a cheese danish?

Caption: Triple espresso. Forget it, Uncle Mort. Your doctors said no caffeine. I am not your Uncle Mort, I am someone else altogether. Oh yeah? Who are you? I am … Drinkum … Coffeeman … Worthington-Smythe … of the Florida Coffeeman-Worthington-Smythes. You may have heard of us ... we're a family of um ... troubadours. I, myself, wrote several ballads for the likes of Sinatra, Pat Boone, and Jimi Hendrix. So if I were to Google that right now, Google would confirm that? Google is an abomination!!! One gentle flower chamomile tea, coming up.

Caption: Well, another year is coming to a close. I'd like to thank you for a job well done, nemesis. I just serve coffee. Yes, but you do it so poorly, as if you have the coordination of a two-year-old. And every word out of your mouth is vapid and narcissistic. Day in and day out, you have provided me with a slovenly example of youth that makes me feel very, very good to be old. So ... good job. That you for being you, loser! I love being important.

Caption: I had a strange day today, Susan. I totally know how THAT is … My day was strange, too. On the one hand, I landed the "Ask Sadie Radio Show" account. And I got a huge bonus. On the other hand, I discovered an underground gambling ring where people bet on how many cups of coffee I'll drink by noon. It's annoying when someone pretends to sympathize with you just so she can change the subject to her. I totally know how THAT is...

It wouldn't make a difference at this point. Are you trying to scare me away from the coffee so you can have it all to yourself? It's been an honor working with you, ma'am.

Caption: I don't know what to order. So many choices. It can be a little intimidating. What's the difference between the pumpkin-ginseng latte and the ginseng-pumpkin latte? Oh, well … we prepare the pumpkin-ginseng in a way that maximizes its efficacy. A way that what's its what? We try to credibly reconceptualize its scalable organic sources. What's more, we rapidiously iterate equity-invested supply chains and seamlessly cloudify real-time infusement techniques honed from years of adaptive cultivation. But the best part is, it has this kick that we fungibly exploit, resource-leveling mindshare hormones to achieve a completely thirst-quenching network of world-class taste architectures. You know, it's ok to admit there's no difference. The ginseng-pumpkin, on the other hand, proactively optimizes synergistic reintermediate maintanable electrolytes.

Caption: Good morning, Rudy. I suppose you're wondering why I've summoned you. I like licorice. It's time for your annual performance review. In short, you've done very well this year. Thank you, boss. You're friendly, punctual, and well-groomed. You follow direction acceptably, you've shown initiative, and you brew a fine cup of coffee. Those are the pluses. There's only one negative, really. Only 1.3 percent of your social media posts and comments have been about me or the cafe, and of those only 94% have been positive. An overwhelming 6% have been neutral. The only thing keeping me from firing you is, 0% have been negative. Just thought of a negative. I'm also not thrilled about that cute kitten you re-tweeted in February. I'm more of a piranha man.

Caption: I want to get my mom a box of chocolates for Thanksgiving. Perfect timing! It's the bi-annual semi-sweet sale! Andy's Candies. Bi-Annual Semi-Sweet Sale!! What's the difference between bi and semi? One's twice and one's every other, right? Let's see … "bi" can mean both two and twice. "Semi" means half but can also mean twice. So is semi-sweet chocolate half as sweet or twice as sweet? And half or twice of what? Regular chocolate? What's "regular"? Is semi-sweet the same as bittersweet? You know what? Forget chocolate. I'll just get some toffee. Or is it taffy? What's the difference? could you just get your mom a card or something? Coffee. Toffee. Latte. Taffy.
