Caption: Boss … if you could live in any era in history, which one would it be? I'm glad you asked. I've given this a lot of thought. I'd travel back to 14th century Europe and try to broker peace to head off the hundred year's war. I could save 3.3 million lives. I'd also bring a suitcase of penicillin and other antibiotics with me to cure "The Black Death" before it got started. I could save 200 million people. Maybe he's not such a bad man. Without that depletion of manpower, feudalism would never have tragically had to end and you'd be calling me "lord."

Caption: I suppose you're wondering why I've summoned you here at 3 a.m., minion. I try not to wonder. After crunching the numbers, I've determined we'd increase profits by being open 24/7. We're in the suburbs. Everyone's asleep. Not true. By being closed at 3a.m., we're missing out on the potentially lucrative Igor the Wino clientele. Go to the alley and give Igor a 1-for-the-price-of-2 coupon. Very bad man.

Caption: My daughter Sylvia has over 2,000 Facebook "friends," of which I am not one. It;s weird because there is no actual book involved, and I'll bet she rarely ever sees these "friends" face to face. Personally, I'd rather have one face-to-face friend like you than 2,000 so-called Facebook friends. Am I right? I've got 3,200 Facebook friends.

Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Rudy Park
Viewable Date: 2015-05-23 Pub. Date: 2015-05-23
Image Number: 127264
Caption: I'm tired of 3-D movies. When's Hollywood going to come out with 4-D? 4-D? That's when they combine what's onscreen with physical effects inside the theater. If you see a field of flowers onscreen, you smell flowers in the theater. If it's set in Hawaii, a toucan flies onto your lap. If there's an on-screen kiss, an usher smooches you. You've got my attention.

Caption: Open Mike Night Presents Future Guy. They hitched rides in on Halley's Comet every time it's near. Living nanites masquerading as technology … depending on the gullibility of you and me. 200,000 years of riding horses and buggies … and suddenly we're 3-D printing tools and cars and trees? They're everywhere, just biding the time to finish their big plan. They're in your phones, your watch, your cars, and they are nearly done. The brain ... the AI ... will arrive ... in 2061. (July 28th to be exact ... that, my crew, is a natural fact). I'm warning you this way 'cause it's the only way, you see. For some reason, they get confused by rhymes and poetry. In short, I've come to warn you, evolution's happening. You want your kids to survive it? Teach them how to rap ... pening. That was close. Odd ... My phone lit up for no reason, and then went back to sleep.

Caption: Hey Lemont, feel like catching the "Avengers" movie later today? … Yeah, I'll get the popcorn. … Sure, I'll be fine with seeing it in 3-D. … Yeah, I promise not to heckle the movie. … No, I won't be embarrassed if you dress up as Captain America. … What the -- It's dark in there. How would you even know if I roll my eyes when they win against all odds? (Sigh) ok, I promise.

Caption: I burned 3,200 more calories yesterday than I consumed!!! You went for a long run? No. Oh. Well you must've followed my usual regimen: Cross-fit, a few hours of weights … followed by several hours of evading jealous boyfriends. I forgot to enter the calories consumed into my fitness app. You'd be surprised how many calories you burn evading buckshot.

Caption: It's the Fad Herald. Please say hoverboards are in. Hear ye, today, a special announcement. The following is now in: Totally ignoring that we're now living in the year depicted in the movie "Back to the Future, part 2." Out: Any observation about what's come true: 3D movies, tablet computers, video conferencing, wall-mounted, wide-screen TVs that display multiple channels at once, being consumed by personal electronics and hoverboards. Um ... But I've been waiting 26 years to make those observations. Me too. Same here. And I've been waiting 26 years to mock everyone who does that. I'm not sure you got this one right, Fad Herald. Also out: Questioning what you're told. Oh. Sorry about that.

Caption: How'd you pick classes in college, dad? It was pretty much hit and miss. I took Econ 101 just to meet requirements. But the professor was so great, it became my favorite class. Meanwhile, I tried for 3 years to get into history of pop music and ended up hating it. These things need ratings. Like, "avoid professor McBoring! 1/2 star."

Caption: Boss, give it to me straight: do I have room for growth here? Of course. If you apply yourself, and try hard every day to eat as much as you can … you can gain another 30 or 40 pounds in no time. Of course, then I'd have to drop your health insurance. You'd be a high risk for heart attack or diabetes. Let me rephrase: Do I have room for advancement? Of course. There's at least another 3 or 4 feet between you and my desk.

Caption: Value!! Super stack pancakes $1.99. 12 Ultra tacos $3.50. Big deal burger 2 for $1.25 with fries. M.D. Big slice Pizza. 3 slices $2.00. I'm always looking for a bargain to make my food budget go further, but my doctor says eating the cheapest things is causing me to gain weight. You're penny wise and pound foolish!

Caption: What's that? A letter from grandma and grandpa. They sent me their "seven tips to succeed in college." 1. Dress nicely. No torn jeans or sloppy shirts. 2. Take home economics. It will serve you well. 3. Type your reports on quality paper. This impresses. 4. Join math club. Good boys are in math club. 5. Have plenty of stamps and stationery for letter writing. 6. Wear a watch to keep track of your classes. 7. Read a newspaper every day. Hm. I'd say they are a tad out of touch. Grandparents usually are. But their list is SO sweet! Kind of ... touching out-of-touchness.

Caption: Why'd you buy 3 kinds of lotion? Because they work together. One tones, one hydrates, one firms. It's a system. Oh! Well, if it's a system. Are you being a smarty? Honey, these companies hustle money by selling multiple products as "a system." It's a big scam. Like your hair treatment products? That's not a system! That's a program.

Caption: What's this? An intern program in counseling. I'm going for an interview tomorrow over in Valeville. Good for you, Bernice! You'd be an excellent counselor! Hey, wanna come? It’s a 3-hour drive - I'd love the company. Yeah! Road trip! Top down, wind in our hair, music blasting. Uh, well, my Honda's a hardtop, and the radio's broken. But we could, y'know, chat ...
